David Kropfitsch

Violin



David Kropfitsch, born in August 1997, originally started playing the piano with his father at the age of four. At the age of five he attended his first violin lesson and since then has been taught by outstanding teachers at the University of Music, Vienna. In 2003 he was accepted as student in the class of Prof. Eugenia Polatschek and stayed with her until her retirement. In 2010 he started studying with Prof. Anton Sorokow, concert master of the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra. He attended numerous masterclasses, among them classes with Prof. Boris Kuschnir, Prof. Klaus Maetzl, Prof. Gorjan Kosuta, Wolfgang David and Julian Rachlin.

Very soon he started playing on stage and has already given numerous concerts, amongst them concerts in Austria Center Vienna, in the townhall of Vienna, in Vienna Konzerthaus or for the Hannover Chopin Society. As a participant of the International Carinthian Summer Academy Ossiach / Austria he played the first performances of the sonata for violin and piano, the Toccata for violin solo and the piano trio op. 1, all composed by his father Johannes Kropfitsch. In 2014/15 he was invited to Puebla / Mexico to play the opening of the international festival "ciudad de las ideas". He also played in two of the six concerts of the Jess-Trio-Vienna concert series in the Mozart Hall Vienna. Beside his soloist concerts he also plays trio together with his two sisters. He has not only performed his father's "Trio für die Jugend" for several times but has also played Haydn's Trio "all Ongerese" in Brahms Hall / Musikverein in May 2015. His debut as soloist with orchestra he gave at the age of ten with the Beethoven Symphony orchestra in Radiokulturhaus Vienna.

David has won a number of prizes and awards in national and international violin and chamber music competitions, e.g. first prizes and special prizes in the Austrian competition "prima la musica" or the second prize in the Bulgarian competition "Nedjalka Simeonova".
